The American Legion is concerned about young people using drugs and destroying their lives. Alcohol, tobacco, inhalants and marijuana are often readily available and considered the entry way to a life of drug-dependency and delinquency.

Abuse of drugs and alcohol is a nationwide problem that affects persons of every age, race, gender and ethnic group. It poses risks to the health and safety of both the individual.

Using gateway drugs is dangerous and can lead to drug abuse and addiction, plus more serious drugs, such as heroin, cocaine and LSD.
